When customers depend on the product we supply to run their business, we leave no stone unturned. In late 2016, supply issues, combined with delayed cargoes and unexpected plant maintenance left many Australian manufacturers scratching for every kg of PVC they could lay their hands on.
At Primaplas we proved once again size and connections matter in the plastics industry. Our team were able to satisfy two large production facilities to avoid any significant downtime. We juggled our ASYNL stocks on the ground and on the water to prevent any customers from having to compromise on their operations.
Reacting swiftly and managing our internal resources to provide a solution is engrained in the DNA of Primaplas; it’s what we do every day.
At Primaplas we are regional leaders in supply of films for the food-packaging sector and industrial markets throughout Australia, New Zealand and PNG.
Our products are sourced from globally leading manufacturers of BOPP, BOPET, CPP and Nylon. Our portfolio includes broad range of commodity and specialty type grades, coupled with the dedicated customer service the business was founded on.
Our experience in the market and technical expertise allows us to work closely with customers to provide the right solution for every need.
The journey of raw material supply is rarely a smooth sailing and occasionally, we encounter quality issues. On a particular instance in 2015, we had a major customer facing a sealing issue with BOPP film.
A member of the Primaplas team immediately organised a meeting and discussed the particular concern with the customer. On behalf of our supplier, we gathered the necessary information and samples to be further analysed. We then worked closely with our supplier to find out the root cause. All the while, the customer was being kept informed on the outcome of retain sample re-check. Ultimately, we concluded that the customer required a higher lap seal strength than normal, which was not previously advised. The final resolution was an agreement for a routine hot tack and sealing strength tests for the master rolls of the film, which has since addressed the issue.
Our team helped to bridge the communication gap and clarified the expectations and requirements from the customer to our overseas supplier. With Primaplas customers and suppliers always have a local contact when technical problems arise.
As a trusted player in the plastics industry, suppliers and manufacturers rely on our comprehensive logistics network to run their businesses efficiently. Size, scale and the support of the Pacific Plas group means we can provide cost-effective solutions and reliable delivery anywhere in Australasia.
Ongoing relationships with major shipping lines both here and in Asia, along with warehousing facilities across Australia and New Zealand strengthen our position as a bond in the industry.
When the unexpected happens is when we rise above everyone else. Back in 2005 Hurricane Katrina delayed US vessels for customers around the globe. Working directly with leading suppliers in Indonesia allowed our logistics team to schedule a large delivery of raw materials within 10 days to keep one of our customers’ operations running.
We managed to cut down a 2-3 week process by leveraging our connections in Jakarta Port, our existing relationship with supplier PT Asahimas and the expertise of a dedicated team. Direct, timely communication with all parties involved, most importantly the customer, allowed us to book vessel space, cut lead shipping time and clear all cargo at the destination port.
Our agile service enabled the manufacture operation to run uninterrupted and contribute to reinforce Primaplas’ reputation in the industry as industry experts working for you.
